01. The Vague Flux of Masterless Images Images, seemingly floating by Without a master of their own whoa oh The things i see, do to me What no one ever told me they would do woo ooo Carving niches in the sky I realize that we can fly but why? Everywhere, that we go I think there’s something that you ought to know whoa oh Everything, that we see Is nothing but an elaborate dream ooo ooo Carving niches in the sky I realize that we can fly but why? Carving niches in the sky I realize that we can fly but why?

02. How Not To Explode Just sit back and listen to me And if you’d like you can have some tea The greatest tale that i’ve ever told Was how not to explode I’ve told tales for many a year To anyone who’ll lend an ear I like to see them smile When i get to the best part Some say it’s a work of art Which i respectfully deny So with no further ado I will tell the tale for you So long to figure this one out Just sit back and listen to me And if you’d like you can have some tea The greatest tale that i’ve ever told Was how not to explode It was pandemonium People dying left and right All of them exploding And lighting up the night I yelled you are my chosen ones So come follow me Just like that old carpenter Who walked upon the sea The sky lights up like the 4th of july I said come with me if you don’t want to die Because i know which way to go They followed me for miles Thinking that i was god’s child So long before they thought We got to safety alright Each one slept through the night And when they woke I was long gone Just sit back and listen to me And if you’d like you can have some tea The greatest tale that i’ve ever told Was how not to explode Just sit back and listen to me And if you’d like you can have some tea The greatest tale that i’ve ever told Was how not to explode

03. The Night Hears The Dawn Clenching up with unlocked eyes I hear a voice that is not mine I feel a light that could be dawn So come with me and we’ll be one Seeing things through sun’s lost eyes Feeling things that are the night The dawn comes The night hears the dawn

04. Static (It Has You) And the darkness is waiting there for me When i awake from my sleep The night holds all my dreams And i hope they never end And my dreams are so lucky because they have you whoa oh oh I wipe the dreams out of my eyes As i shake the sleep from my mind And i wish i never woke up Then it would never end And i would be so lucky because i’d have you whoa oh oh I cry myself to sleep every night Wishing my life would turn out right The night holds all my secrets And i hope it never tells And the night is so lucky because it has you whoa oh oh And the night is so lucky because it has you Because it has you So lucky because it has you Because it has you Because it has you Because it has you Because it has you

05. Static Dreams And life is like the beach at sunrise Feel the dawn beneath your toes I was caught in a static dream Of a new being Feeling like the day is gone If only seconds all the while Light like the night is gone So tender to see it go And life is like the beach at sunrise Feel the dawn beneath your toes I was lost to the static dreams And i knew every thing I could not see the night had gone For us it was won Now the day it refuses me Because i can not see

06. The Dusk Comes Again Goodbye summer sunday world Giving way to night sky purple swirls Day preparing for the dark night skies And not a one who comes here lives until he dies Leaves are dancing in the autumn swirls And every day the night wishes that it could rule the world Everything seems to glow in the twilight And not a one who comes here doesn’t know the peace of night The brightness lives to die and then To harken night the dusk it comes again

07. Infinite Logistics I feel it coming down on me A tidal wave of ebb and flow The procurement of infinity Where to take it let it go Slowly drift so far away The open window quietly Lets sound come in from outside world Hearing noises mix and swirl Our lost time recorded when The raindrops fell down and said That someone was there quietly Keeping wind inside of me The nighttime seeping in my mind Dripping into your lost lives Heavy handed lids of eyes Dance with dreamers every night Seeing scenes from lives long past Walk slowly and divine A love i had at long last I wonder where it lies

08. White Vapour Dreams You can sit there forever in your lavish dreams You can see pale sunlight across the floor You can almost hear time passing As you sit there you can feel The vast emptiness and space all around you It surrounds you and makes familiar things strange You're shut out in a different set of dreams And everything you do can be seen In white vapour dreams In white vapour dreams In white vapour dreams You can hear a little piece of the heavens As it passes you by You notice the different shades and inflections Of color that surround you they’re always there There is no stirring within the air It is almost as if the world stopped turning And all that was left was this stillness Hanging in the air It seems as if something has taken you away And left you deep in the heart of the world You're shut out in a different set of dreams And everything you do can be seen In white vapour dreams In white vapour dreams In white vapour dreams In white vapour dreams In white vapour dreams In white vapour dreams In white vapour dreams

09. Lullaby @5am The stars are far brighter than gems without measure The moon is far whiter than silver in treasure The stars are in blossom the moon is in flower And bright are the windows of night in her tower The fire is more shining on hearth in the gloaming Than gold won by mining so why go a roaming The river is silver the shadows are fleeting Merry is springtime and joyous our meeting Oh where are you going so late in returning The river is flowing the stars are all burning Oh whither so laden so sad and so dreary Now here is your maiden to welcome the weary Sing we now softly In dreams let us weave her Wind her in slumber And there let us leave her The stars are far brighter than gems without measure The moon is far whiter than silver in treasure Oh where are you going so late in returning The river is flowing the stars are all burning Sing we now softly In dreams let us weave her Wind her in slumber And there let us leave her Wind her in slumber Wind her in slumber And there let us leave her

about

how not to explode is an album about dreams.
the kind your subconscious mind subjects you to as you sleep, and the ones that keep you awake with longing, worry or action.
there is a vulnerability to the personal fictions your mind creates for you, they can see right through your bullshit. they show your fears and hopes, they showcase what you think is wrong with your world and show you a different world for better or worse. dreaming can be positive, but i find that to be more a feature of waking dreams, the kind that speak more of aspiration and longing, desires and destinations.
this album is about coming to terms with your dreams, about learning to let those dreams go, not to give up on them, but to give them a chance to grow up and inspire more dreams as they do.

dedicated to the memory of Timothy M. Thomas [1977-2013]
"Don't lose sight of your dreams, where would we all be without the dreamers and their dreams?"
